I took down almost all content pages, replacing them with their pre-construction ones, as I am rewriting the base of this website.

Hope to get a completely new system running soon-ish.

    あわてんぼうのサンタクロース (A hasty person's Christmas)

Christmas really soon! No, I don't have a time to make a new webpage design just for Chrismas, so make do with my lovely greens and greys.

Well, this site still needs work... I'm not happy with the sidebar, that was a quickie to get the design out of the door so I don't delay it much further. If anybody thinks they can do better, and can make a design I am happy with, feel free to offer your assistance. It's the hols, anyway.

While I'm typing this, I notice there is an interesting mix of people online. Firstly, the rl regulars, are mostly online atm. Other people (non-real life): Chase-san, James, SiCK PRlCK, some guy I forgot his name, okeN, Tetsuo, sunny2517, Kasumarae, Adam, Gazette, Ed, deject3d, Masoud?!

Well, what else should I expect at 2200JST/0500PST. The usual, I guess.

    YouTube stuff

Japan? Not surprised at all. US? Not surprised - I have a few friends there, and they also have an active Vocaloid community. Singapore? Moderately surprised. I only know one other Vocaloid fan living in Singapore. Taiwan? I would expect it to be before Singapore; but meh. I'd lump Canada with the US. (No offence.)

Coding something to automatically upload rankings, because it's starting to become a timesink. Sometimes, an transload of a *single* video takes 30 minutes, thanks to traffic conditions in Japan and the US respectively (down/up). I'm moderately surprised that my Japanese-titled videos get the most attention, half-japanese titles come in next, English titles after that.

My most watched video is the Hatsune Miku + Kagamine Len duet of "When my first love ends" - that an arrangement of the latest song of the famous ryo/supercell. Imo, #3, Kagamine Len - "Questioning my humantiy" should not be recieving that much attention.

What the heck is that graph in the picture anyway? Views/day? Scoring 1100 views per day over all my videos is not so good. 106 videos at the moment, so that means 10 views/video/day. Blehx. I've 32 Subscribers, which means about 20+ views from them per day since I post at least one video per day. Whatever, I hate the complex math of group based behaviour.

    Today's Daily Rankings

    15 December 2008

Saw a lot of other people irl. Surprising, really.

Talking about real-life, Sun Microsystems is going to have a Sun Tech Day in 2009. [Offical Page]. ooo, they're trying to drive up interest by giving iPods and Wiis.

Sun Tech Days is loaded with practical information. You will learn more from real-world solutions. Whatever your focus - JavaFX, OpenSolaris, AJAX, GlassFish and MySQL EYOU will find sessions to take YOUR development skills to the next level.

Yada yada. I'm not going, and never will, if you're wondering. If I really wanted to I may as well attend it in the United States or similar where there will be more people turning up.

"But... you use MySQL on a nearly daily basis... and AJAX whenever you feel like it."

So? Doesn't mean I have to go right? And don't talk to me about Ajax. I don't really like to use it since some text-browsers don't support it (or even JavaScript, for that matter).

    Absurd Petition

    二次元キャラとの結婚を法的に認めて下さい

Translates to: Please legally recognise marriages to 2D Characters. ("キャラ" in this case typically refering to those in Mangas, Anime and Games.)

When I accessed it, this petition had 2,979 signatures already, with a target of 1,000,000 signatures. Unsuprisingly, most signatories were between 15~25 years old, male, and were students.

One of the signatories brought up a very valid point:

    これって結婚相手が他人と重複したらどうなるの?早いもん勝ち?・・・w

    Translating to:

What if there is more than one person who wants to marry the same character? Fastest person first? ... lol

    Heh, whatever.

Saw Tiffany working today, neh, didn't say hello 'cause she was busy. =P

    Infernal Vocaloid fan-spawn

Well, well. If you thought you knew all about the Vocaloid fan-made spawn, this image should quickly prove you wrong. The image should be pretty accurate to about two weeks ago. Listing time!~

(The image is rather incomplete, if you want to include all the random fan-drawings other than the more popular ones.)

If I made a mistake in the list drop me a note at the forums. Relatively well known characters bolded.

What?! I forgot to transload yesterday's 日刊VOCALOIDランキング, so I can't do it now. Just have to wait it out. Well, at least the weekly PV ランキング will not be late.

Have no idea what I'm talking about? Take a look here for the most recent videos.

What's going on in my virtual space:

    • designing a mid-level programming language
    • transloading VOCALOID videos
    • making design decisions for a new OS user interface I may or may not build, with a (rather) new metaphor
    • moving gigabytes of data around (I really should automate this - it's boring)

What's going on in real life:

    • well, I hardly ever post about that, and I'm not going to do so now
    • all I'm saying is that there's ups, and there's downs. Like waves beating against the rock.
    • Except now the rock is starting to wake up and fight back.

    Later....

Lemme tell someone something about ETA for technical jobs. If you're going to do maintainence, a general rule is to add an additional buffer amount of time to your first estimate for documentation and logging, then double the result. Techinical jobs usually have you finishing 90% of the job in the first half of the time and then the other 90% of the job in the next half.

    2 December 2008

The beginning of the last month of the year: fantastic, don't you say? Especially when you have Christmas to worry about next... not! The biggest thing I hate about Christmas is the fact that no one in the family seems to notice it. I just whooshes by without a hitch. Borrring. It's as interesting as watching paint dry. Or grass grow. Except that nothing happens. I need to be kicked. Hard.

Well well, before I forget, we had our Choir concert yesterday. Not much to talk about that. Other things were on my mind.

Involving this website: Yesh, there's more content but not enough. Just drop by the forums and leave something there instead. Interactivity is way more interesting than static content anyway.

Jupiter, Moon and Mars make a nice smiley face

    Impatent Dude

For online forum or comment-like communication, I would personally expect a reply time ranging from 6 hours to 1 week, depending on activity levels. This guy expects a reply time that is less than half-an-hour. How rude. Link to relevant vid.

    14 November 2008

Went out to buy some books.

Gradnite did not go like how I would have liked it to be. I would have liked to have talked more. Much more than I did. But I had other things on my mind. (Excuses, excuses.) I was worried. Plus I do not like to be pressured into doing things.Meh. I feel bad about that.

Sorry I didn't meet agreed arrangements with some of you.

... Whatever, that's over. Let's look to the future!

Wish you all sucess in whatever you do! Keep in contact!
I'll be collecting as many photos as possible to make a collection and publish it here.
    And, of course:

    SEE YOU ONLINE!!!

    12 November 2008

Coding my own Content Management System for the site. It's actually working pretty well, and produces static webpages to try and reduce the server load. Hey, I'm freeloading here, may as well try and cut my costs down.

Won't go into details, but I can tell you that it is very hackish and not meant for normal users. It's a real glock.

It also was easier to code than I originally planned, since every single file is a PHP file. Using a few includes and ob_*s, a piece of cake!

Content is starting to flow in, and some of the sidebar doesn't link nowhere now. =P

    Stuff

    More stuff...

This site is under reconstruction. (Yes, a website was here about 12 seconds ago at time of this writing.) Visit later.

The sidebar is (mostly) harmless, but go ahead and click on it.

Hi there, text browser user! Ignore the two messages for IE users below, please.

This page works in IE7+! (Which is the browser you're using, fyi.)
IE8 especially is a wonderful update from the older IE versions, and is more standards-compliant.

You are using an old version of IE.
We recommend you upgrade to IE7 or better now.

Stuff that I always had on here for ages:

    Most Interesing Stuff

    Interesting Stuff

    RoboCode-related

I have a lot more crap on here that I won't link to, like several zip archives involving the Korean Ragnarok Online protocol (slightly out of date), Ragnarok Online GRF extractors (still work after 3-4 years), Old MapleStory-related stuff (archive extractors and map renderers that don't work on the current game). I also have a headless GRobot client for some reason o.O
